Irish Diplomacy combines musicians from many facets of the Twin Cities music scene (Machinery Hill, Roe Family Singers, Jazz Central, The Center for Irish Music, The Brian Handeland Quintette, The Slight Exaggerations…) who have the desire to play everything IRISH. What started as a small project has now expanded to an large ensemble including ; Brian Handeland (horns, flutes, clarinet); Datta Hartman (accordion); Bill Lee (various horns, whistles, ukuleles and bagpipes), Ric Lee (violin and mandolin); Shawn McBurnie (vocals and bodhran); Matt Pearson (upright bass); Patrick Riley (concertina) and Steven Rippe (vocals and guitar). Not necessarily rule followers, all of these individuals bring their own ideas and experiences to the Irish tradition. There are touches of blues, jazz, rock and americana flashing through the mix, but at heart- it is Irish in the most diplomatic way.
